The long walk down the green mile for a Volkswagen Polo comes with a tear as Joachim Back directs the story of workers at the crash test plant who regret running their car through its final trial, lovingly apologizing to the auto before the test dummy takes the wheel and the engineers send it to car heaven a la Old Yeller. Back, represented in the States by Park Pictures, here teams with Paris' Gang Films and Agence V to create a sad reflection on manifestations of sheet-metal devotion, tagged with the ironic phrase "for the love of automobile."
