Ad Council Unveils Freedom Corps Campaign

Published on .

Bob Dole volunteers as a mentor.
Earlier today, The Ad Council and the USA Freedom Corps unveiled a public service campaign aimed at kindling the nation's spirit of volunteerism. The effort is built around the line "Everyone can do something" and consists of print work from The Martin Agency and three television spots from BBDO/New York.

The comical TV spots, produced by Headquarters, feature celebrities demonstrating their volunteer spirit. In one spot, Yankee closer Mariano Rivera tries to parlay his sizzling fastball into an opportunity to help firefighters. In another, Law & Order alum Angie Harmon tries to capitalize on her imaginary legal credentials. Both end up volunteering -- just not in the ways they had imagined. In a third spot, Senators Bob Dole and John Glenn lead school children on a somewhat non-partisan field trip.
