ADC Bestows First Black Cube to Trillion Dollar Billboard

Last night at the Art Directors Club 89th Annual Gala,TBWA/Hunt/Lascaris earned the first ever best in show Black Cube award, for the much celebrated The Zimbabwean Trillion Dollar Billboard Campaign. The ADC established the Black Cube last year but did not award a winner.

The Zimbabwean campaign featured billboards, murals and flyers covered with real trillion-dollar banknotes in order to shed light on the country's suffering and economic collapse under the Mugabe regime. It already earned a Grand Prix in Outdoor at Cannes last year and earned two Gold Pencils at the One Show last week.

The event was held for the first time at the SVA Theatre at the School of Visual arts in New York. The ADC also presented its top Agency, Network, Interactive Agency, Design Team and School of the Year awards based on cumulative Cube wins across all categories. BBDO New York took Agency of the Year, Y&R was named Network of the Year and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners won Interactive Agency of the Year. The New York Times also earned the ADC Design Team of the Year honor, while School of Visual Arts and Miami Ad School tied for ADC School of the Year.
