It's nice when things just work.
Honda "Cog" racked up the most downloads on the site between July 16, 2002 and July 15, 2003 -- an impressive showing, considering the spot didn't break until April. Reebok's Terrible Terry Tate commercial from this year's Super Bowl wound up second. In fact, the "Office Linebacker" made the list two more times, once each for the pre-game teaser and a followup spot, as AdCritic subscribers passed long afternoons daydreaming about what such a talent might do to their bosses. Third place went to the golden oldie "Bear Fight" spot for John West salmon. When AdCritic returned from the brink, fans of the site apparently couldn't resist cuing up the classic again and again, although its popularity seems to be (finally!) waning. Then comes Miller Lite. The spots everyone loved to loathe this year, "Catfight" and the Pam Anderson vehicle "Pillow Fight", placed fifth and fourth, respectively, as users undertook extensive research to ensure that such cheap, licentious and basely titillating advertising never, ever happens again! Popular spots for Coors Light, Ikea, PETA, VW and Pepsi Twist round out the top 10.
Among agencies, Crispin Porter + Bogusky commanded the most downloads in the last twelve months, landing six spots in the Top 50, followed by Wieden + Kennedy/Portland with five and Arnold Worldwide with four. Nike led the way for clients with six commercials on the list, followed by Budweiser with five and Ikea with four. Harvest's Baker Smith, meanwhile, directed the most Top 50 commercials with four, followed by Mike Mills of The Directors Bureau, Hungry Man's Bryan Buckley and Rawson "Terry Tate" Thurber, each with three.
