It's October, Halloween is just around the corner, the leaves are starting to turn color, the air is starting to cool and if you close your eyes at the right moment and concentrate, you may just catch the faint whiff of advertising awards season coming around the corner. To that end, the International ANDY awards named its honorary chairman for 2008 and it's none other than Mother, London creative director Mark Waites, who has served as a jury member for three of the last five years. Waites is the first chairman to be chosen from outside the U.S. since John Hegarty of BBH in 2002. The awards' chairman is responsible for jury selection and presides over preliminary and final judging in New York, London and Australia. The job also includes developing the annual ANDY creative advertising and marketing campaign, which this year includes this Instacritique site that asks creatives to upload work and receive instant-yet-completely-random reactions from an assortment of jury members and noted creative directors.
