Audio post house Lower East Side has been acquired by a group of industry veterans, Michael Porte -- a member of the new ownership group -- announced today. The deal comes as Creative Content Artists prepares to liquidate all the assets it acquired in last year's purchase of the New York Media Group. (Click here to read more about the demise of CCA.) The new ownership group is composed of Porte, mixers Bob Giammarco, Rex Recker, Tom Goldblatt and Joe Vagnoni, and chief audio engineer Brian Wick. The shop opened today under the new ownership and with a new name -- audioEngine.

For some of the owners -- like Giammarco, Porte and Goldblatt -- the purchase is a homecoming. All three worked at the New York Media Group before it was acquired by Washington D.C.-based CCA. Wick, Recker and Vagnoni all come to the new venture from Photomag, New York.

"These guys have been wanting to own their own thing for a long time," Porte says. "When the opportunity came up it was a no-brainer. It's a such a beautiful place and we can do it ourselves."
