A commerical for Troeg’s Beer from The Neiman Group in Harrisburg, Pa., took the, um, bottom honor yesterday at the Advertising Women of New York’s (AWNY) 8th Annual Good, Bad & Ugly Awards, which recognize good (and, of course, bad) representations of women in advertising. Troeg's was awarded the Grand Ugly award for TV for a commericial titled "Burp," and picked up a plain old Bad honor for another spot called "Troegenator." However, AWNY reports that the spots were submitted by the agency, which hoped to drum up a little attention for its client.
On the other side of the spectrum, Dove's "Real Beauty" campaign from Ogilvy & Mather was given the "They Get It" award for its positive representation of women. Other laurels went to L'Oreal (McCann-Erickson), Curves (Publicis/Dallas), the Girl Scouts (Kaplan Thaler Group), Light of Life Foundation (Lowe), Johnson & Johnson (Lowe), Whirlpool (Publicis/N.Y.) and MasterCard (McCann-Erickson.)
