Boston effects house Brickyard VFX has announced the opening of a West Coast studio in Santa Monica. Dubbed Brickyard VFX Pacific, the new office will be manned by former 525 Post CEO and Method co-founder Steve Michaels, former 525 effects artist Patrick Poulatian, former Colorado FX artist George Fitz and producer Diana Young, most recently of R!OT/Santa Monica. The L.A. office will be co-owned by Michaels and Poulatian, along with Geoff McAuliffe and Dave Waller, principals and lead artists at Brickyard's Boston headquarters, which will now be known as Brickyard VFX Atlantic.

Since opening in 1999, Brickyard has done effects work on such high-profile projects as Arnold Worldwide's award-winning "Squares" and "Chain Reaction" spots for Volkswagen, Deutsch's "Bottles" campaign for Snapple, and Budweiser's "Replay" Super Bowl spot from Hill/Holliday.
