BTAA makes Gorilla Golden

Starting what could become a trend this awards season, Fallon, London's Cadbury "Gorilla" spot was tapped for the Best TV Commercial of the Year at the 32nd annual British Television Advertising Awards this week.

The agency also picked up three more Gold awards for Skoda's "Cake", Sony Bravia's "Play Doh", and Sony Walkman's "Music Pieces", resulting in Fallon, London being named Agency of the Year.

Awards chairman and creative partner at Saatchi & Saatchi Paul Silburn said in a statement that "Gorilla" will be remembered as proof positive that "pure entertainment can also achieve significant results for clients."

Other notable Gold awards include Mother, London's Boots spots "Here Come The Girls" and "Get Beach Gorgeous," BBH, London's "Dangerous Liasons" for Levi's, and Carling's close encounter with the bloke kind in "Space" by Beattie McGuinness Bungay. Saatchi & Saatchi, New York picked up the International Gold award for Tide "Interview."

Rattling Stick took home the Panalux Award for production company of the year honors, while The Mill was given the BTAA Fellowship award for "outstanding contribution to the production of commercials." The Chairman's Award for outstanding contribution to the commercials industry went to Mother's founding fathers Robert Saville and Mark Waites.
