New Campaigns Break for Compass Bank and Match.com

Published on .

Who gets more attention? You, or the ficus?
Crispin Porter + Bogusky breaks two new commercials this week for Compass Bank, which -- like Washington Mutual and Commerce Bank -- is trying to present itself as a kinder, gentler bank. One spot features an entirely believable scenario in which bank employees huddle around an ailing ficus tree, but fail to wait on customers. In another, people treat cash like trash to illustrate the virtue of fee free ATMs. Both spots were directed by Biscuit Filmworks' Tim Godsall. ... Match.com comes up with a funny take on online dating to promote its tie-in with CBS's mate search show Cupid. In three spots from BBH/New York and Hungry Man director Bennett Miller, Match is far from a friendly place to meet singles. Rather, it's a competitive snakepit where smack-talking profiles dress each other down.
