After months of negotiations -- and much speculation -- former Satellite Films head of sales Brian Carmody has found a home. Carmody has reached an agreement with production company Villains to set up a satellite shop called Smuggler, which will count former Satellite directors Brian Beletic and Neil Harris among its stable of talent. The new shop will also represent Ivan Zacharias, Laurence Hamburger, Martin Schmid and Jens Jonsson in the U.S. -- all are repped worldwide by London production company Stink -- and music video directors Ben Mor and Goldigger. The bicoastal shop will be headquartered in New York offices helmed by executive producer Patrick Milling Smith, with an L.A. office headed by Carmody.
In the months since Propaganda/Satellite folded, Carmody has been shopping around a package of Satellite talent to various production houses, including Villains and Ritts-Hayden. "It's hard not to be excited after waiting so long, but we did it properly," he says.
