Dan Wieden co-founded Wieden & Kennedy in Portland, Ore., on April Fool's Day in 1982 -- and the agency has grown to comprise eight offices across four continents. But oh how he wishes he were small again, he told attendees at the fourth annual Ad Age Small Agency Conference, which was held last week in his hometown. Speaking just days ahead of the biggest merger adland has ever seen, Mr. Wieden presciently remarked that the ad giants are "wobbling like drunkards" and called for indie shops to sharpen their swords.
