DDB/Chicago Tops Art Directors Club Honors

April is here and awards season is upon us. Soon we'll be reporting on the Andy Awards, the One Show, and -- of course -- Cannes. The New York Art Directors Club, however, is the first to announce this year's winners. Topping the list is DDB/Chicago, which was awarded eight gold medals for eight different radio spots in its "American Heroes" campaign for Budweiser, a feat a club spokesperson calls "unprecedented" for a collection of radio spots. Other golds -- a total of twelve were awarded in the ad category -- went to Wieden & Kennedy/Portland, which scored two for Nike print work, to TBWA/Chiat/Day/New York for an "Absolut L.A." billboard composed of headshots of wannabe actors, and to Wirz Werbung AG/Zurich for a 30-second anti-violence PSA for the Foundation Against Racism and Antisemitism. Winning work will be honored at the ADC's annual gala on June 6.
