For an agency that began the year by losing the Domino's Pizza account without a review, Deutsch/New York is on a hiring tear. The agency announced yesterday that it has hired Karen Ellis as senior VP-group creative director to oversee the Revlon account, which was consolidated at Deutsch in January. The announcement comes just weeks after the appointment of ex-J. Walter Thompson CD Florence Buchanan as group CD, heading up the Sheraton/Westin brands for Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
Ellis, most recently owner of advertising and branding firm Company K, comes to Deutsch with lots of cosmetics experience. She has worked on Avon at NW Ayer and served as creative director on L'Oreal at McCann-Erickson from 1997 to 2000.
