Deutsch Puts DirecTV in the Movies

Published on .

DirecTV: Animal House again?
In its latest campaign for client DirecTV, Deutsch/L.A. gives the marketer's longrunning installer character a rest. Instead, the new "Don't Forget You Got It" campaign reminds viewers about movies available on Blockbuster Pay-Per-View by delivering the message with the movies themselves.

Three new spots, directed by Chris Hooper of Bob Industries, feature memorable scenes from cable staples Animal House, The Karate Kid and Airplane! In mid-scene, however, the characters address the audience. "You might enjoy a movie you don't already know all the words to," Leslie Nielsen suggests in one spot, just before he reminds Robert Hays not to call him Shirley. In another, Pat Morita interrupts a karate lesson to deliver a similar message, and John Belushi's signature raised eyebrow punctuates the message in a third.
