The American Advertising Federation this week released the results of the 2003 ADDY Awards, announcing that DeVito/Verdi and Bozell -- both New York -- will be awarded the two Best of Show awards. In a rare twist, DeVito/Verdi won Best of Show Broadcast for a radio campaign. The effort, for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, features every day activities described as if they were horse races. Bozell earned Best of Show Print for a campaign for the New York Times
in which images are juxtaposed with a series of words that suggest a variety of interpretations, all of which might be covered by the Times
In all, 126 Gold ADDY Awards and 200 Silvers will be presented on June 7 at the AAF's national conference in Los Angeles. GSD&M/Austin and Leo Burnett USA lead the agency field with 21 awards each, followed by Venables Bell & Partners, San Francisco, with 12, and Rogers Townsend in St. Louis and davidandgoliath, Los Angeles, which each won 11.
