DeVito/Verdi Takes Top Radio-Mercury Award

New York agency DeVito/Verdi continued its winning ways at the Radio-Mercury Awards last Thursday. The agency snagged the $100,000 Grand Prize with "Dinner Date," a spot for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA). The NTRA radio campaign, which features ordinary events narrated like horse races, also won Best of Show in the broadcast category at the national Addy Awards this year.

Other Radio-Mercury Awards were presented to Cliff Freeman & Partners for a spot for Hollywood Video; to the Richards Group for Motel 6; to DDB/Chicago for a "Real Men of Genius" spot for Budweiser; to Arnold Worldwide for the VW ad "Monkey Juice"; to Secret Weapon Marketing for a Jack in the Box ad; to BBDO/New York and McHale Barone for a spot for Snickers; to Goodby,Silverstein & Partners and Saturn; to Crispin Porter + Bogusky for an Ikea commerical; and to Minneapolis agency Clarity Coverdale Fury for work for the Minnesota Department of Health's anti-tobacco effort. DDB/Chicago won the the Public Service award for a spot for the Ad Council and the Afterschool Alliance, while a Heinken spot from the Vidal Partnership was presented the award for best Spanish-language spot.
