Fincher's "Gamebreakers"
Thursday in Los Angeles, the Directors Guild of America announced the nominees for the 2003 DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials. The five finalists are Park Pictures' Lance Acord, Anonymous Content's David Fincher, @radical.media's Errol Morris, Noam Murro of Biscuit Filmworks and Joe Pytka, who collects his fourteenth DGA nomination. Aside from Pytka -- who has won the award three times -- Murro, who was nominated last year, is the only other repeat nominee on this year's list, with Acord, Fincher and Morris all receiving their first nods in the commercials category. (Morris was nominated for a DGA in the documentary category in 1999.) Here's a rundown of the spots that earned each director his nomination. (Click on the titles to view the spots.)
