Dogtown Director Shoots for Vans

Published on .

Skateboarding legend turned director Stacy Peralta has shot a pair of spots for Vans, the skateboard apparel company that financed the director's award-winning documentary Dogtown & Z-Boys. The film, which tells the story of a group of influential Santa Monica skateboarders of which Peralta was a part, earned the Documentary Audience Award and the Documentary Directing Award at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival and is slated to open in theaters on April 26. Corresponding with the opening, Vans will break a spot featuring footage from the film and highlighting the brand's history in the skate scene. Another Peralta-directed spot, "Men's Skate," features new footage of today's skate stars and is expected to break this summer. Both spots were produced by Santa Monica's Nonfiction Spots, which reps Peralta for commercials projects.
