Today the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the 59th annual Emmy nominations, including those for this year's Outstanding Commercial. BBDO/N.Y. leads the pack with three nominations, for Cingular's "Battle" directed by Alison Maclean of Park Pictures, Pepsi's "Pinball" and GE's "Jar," both directed by Traktor. Production company MJZ also earned two nods, for Arnold and Crispin Porter +Bogusky's Truth commercial, "Singing Cowboy," directed by Nicolai Fuglsig, and the Dante Ariola-directed "Snowball" for Travelers, out of Fallon/Minneapolis. Single nominations went to Ogilvy and Mather/N.Y. and Hungry Man's Bryan Buckley, for American Express "Animals"; Wieden + Kennedy/Amsterdam and Psyop, for the Coca-Cola animation spectacular "Happiness Factory."
