Sharp "The Pool"
Morris, who won the Academy Award for Best Documentary this year for The Fog of War -- in part an @radical production -- had been with the company for six years, during which time he shot memorable campaigns for Miller High Life, Apple, Citibank and, most recently, for Sharp. The move reunites the director with former @radical executive VP Robert Fernandez, who joined Moxie as a partner early last year. "We have a really good relationship," says Fernandez, who co-produced Fog of War while at @radical. "We're very excited. It's a good fit for the company as far as the work and the stature of what Errol does. He's a really gifted filmmaker." Since Fernandez's arrival, Moxie has steadily expanded its roster with the addition of features directors Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) and Berman + Pulcini (American Splendor), former Wieden + Kennedy producer Henry Lu, and established spot directors such as Canada's Martin Granger and @radical alum Frank Todaro.
"Having won practically every major advertising award with him [Morris], and having supported him in his recent Oscar win, we certainly had a rewarding run," @radical chairman and CEO Jon Kamen said today in a statement. "We're very proud of our successes together. However, we reached a point in which Errol was unhappy and wanted something more. We wish him the best of luck in finding continued happiness elsewhere in his career."
Morris, contacted through his Boston production office, was not available for comment.
