Ji Lee, a creative director at Google Creative Lab, is moving to Facebook to be the social networking site's first creative director.
Lee is the latest Facebook recruit from the brand world as the company ramps up its efforts to work with advertisers. Last month Facebook hired Time Warner Media Group president and past agency creative Mark Darcy as director of global creative solutions.
Lee has been at Google since July 2008 and was one of the creatives on Google projects such as Google Search Stories, Chrome Experiments and Google New. He confirmed the move on Twitter.
Before moving to Google, Korean-born Lee was a creative director at Droga5 for two years and prior to that worked as an art director at Saatchi & Saatchi New York on accounts including Head & Shoulders, Cheerios and Old Spice. He has also freelanced for Wieden + Kennedy, Berlin Cameron, Euro RSCG New York, BBDO NY, McGarry Bowen NY, Publicis NY and Saatchi & Saatchi Hong Kong. He is also a regular contributor of op-ed art to the New York Times and has launched several of his own personal design projects.
