Fox Sports Dumps Tyson Ad

Published on .

Fox Sports: Tyson sings a lullaby.
Fox Sports Net yesterday pulled a promo for the network's Best Damn Sports Show Period off the air after receiving several media inquiries about the spot. A network spokeperson told Ad Age the network pulled the ad because it may have been "more provocative" than intended.

The spot is one in a five-spot campaign -- developed by Cliff Freeman & Partners and directed by the Oil Factory's Hughes Brother -- in which athletes go to great lengths to appear on the nightly sports roundtable. Tyson is shown babysitting for co-host John Kruk and his wife, who leave Tyson singing a lullaby, an infant nestled in his arms. Tyson, who was convicted of rape in 1992, once infamously boasted that he wanted to eat the children of rival Lennox Lewis.
