This year's contender, for Fox Sports Net, features the offbeat story of Fred and Ernie, twins conjoined at the index finger. All goes well, until Ernie decides to root, not for the home team, but for the fashionable team of the moment. Then Fred is stuck watching teams he doesn't care about -- something that will never happen if you watch Fox Sports Net's locally-targeted coverage.
The four new spots were directed by the Belgian duo of Joe Vanhoutteghem and Koen Mortier, who work together under the assumed name Lionel Goldstein. The pair, who work out of CZAR in Belgium and now the U.S., won a Gold Lion last year in Cannes for their "Ear Tennis" Xbox spot out of BBH/London, and this campaign has the same off-the-wall, documentary feel. We see Fred and Ernie growing up and eventually growing apart -- mentally if not physically -- as Ernie drags his brother into a series of bad fan situations. Prepare to see this on a lot of show reels this spring.
