For the latest commercial for Gatorade, creatives from Chicago agency Element 79 Partners and director Iain MacKenzie of a.proteii toured the world for 49 days and filmed amateur athletes in five countries playing sports as varied as cricket and Australian rules football. "Gatorade is all about the will to win, and the will to win doesn't come from any one country or any one sport," says CD/copywriter Jon Flannery, who created the anthemic spot with CD/art director Doug Behm. "One of the things the world does seem to agree on is sport."
"A win's a win and a loss is a loss," the commercial's voiceover reminds us over a montage of original and stock footage. "But no matter what, you better come with it or don't come at all, because it's 90 feet to first, no matter where home is."
