Miller: Up for an Emmy.
Last week the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced this year's Emmy nominations, including the six contenders in the category of Outstanding Commercial. Goodby, Silverstein & Partners earned two nominations -- for the Budweiser Super Bowl commercial "Born a Donkey," directed by Jeff Goodby via Biscuit Filmworks, and for the Saturn spot "Door Music", directed by Mark Romanek of Anonymous Content. Fallon/Minneapolis likewise earned two nominations, for the Citi spot "Outfit," directed by Kevin Thomas of Thomas Thomas Films, and for the animated United Airlines commercial "Interview," directed by Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis of ACME Filmworks. Anonymous Content earned a second nomination for the David Kellogg-directed Office Max spot "Rubberband Man" out of DDB/Chicago, while Y&R/Chicago grabbed the sixth Emmy nod with the Miller commercial "Dominoes," directed by MJZ's Fredrik Bond. The Emmy winner will be announced Sept. 12 in Los Angeles.
