McCann Erickson has appointed former Tribal DDB founder Matt Freeman to the newly-created post of vice-chairman, global chief innovation officer. Freeman, who moves from his role as CEO of Interpublic's Mediabrands Ventures, will report to Nick Brien, chairman and CEO McCann Worldgroup.
Freeman's move comes as Interpublic realigns its Mediabrands operating units formerly under Mediabrands Ventures. IPG said this move would tie assets currently under the Mediabrands Ventures umbrella more closely to Mediabrands' core offerings
According to the agency, Freeman's key responsibilities will include harnessing the network's digital offering, building new digital capabilities to meet the evolving needs of clients, and forging partnerships that will enable new revenue streams and opportunities for McCann Worldgroup clients.
Freeman joined Interpublic in January 2010. Prior to becoming CEO of Mediabrands Ventures, he was CEO of VC-backed digital media startup Betawave. He was the founder and CEO of Omnicom Group's Tribal DDB Worldwide.
