McKendry Signs with Partizan

Director Gary McKendry, a member of the Palomar Pictures roster when the production company called it quits last month, has signed with Partizan. "It was a brief courtship and a fast marriage," says Partizan executive producer Steve Dickstein. Partizan took over some of Palomar's outstanding jobs as Palomar wound down, which gave McKendry and Dickstein a chance to work together before inking a deal. "We're absolutely thrilled with this guy," Dickstein says. "His career is a juggernaut."

The Irish-born McKendry started directing as a creative at Margeotes Fertitta & Partners in New York before signing with Go Film in 2000. Since then, he's directed noted spots for Ikea -- the popular "Uptight" spot out of Carmichael Lynch -- Porsche and Anheuser-Busch. He had two spots in this year's Super Bowl, one for Bud and one for competitor Smirnoff Ice Triple Black. In January, he left Go Film to join Palomar, which closed its doors two months later, setting up his arrival at Partizan.
