Nelson, Russo Join Garfinkel at DDB/N.Y.

Published on .

Let the migration begin. Bob Nelson and John Russo, both longtime colleagues of new DDB/New York chief creative officer Lee Garfinkel, will join DDB's Manhattan office on Monday, the agency announced this afternoon. Russo has been named co-executive creative director and will oversee the shop's creative department alongside current ECD John Staffen. Nelson has been named director of broadcast production.

Lee Garfinkel -- who joined DDB in December after turning down an offer to become worldwide creative director at Publicis -- has worked with both Nelson and Russo since the days of '80s hot shop Levine, Huntley, Schmit & Beaver, and both held key positions during his year-long tenure as CCO at D'Arcy Worldwide. Nelson, who followed in Garfinkel's path by jumping from Lowe to D'Arcy early last year, was formerly D'Arcy's global broadcast head, while Russo was hired by Garfinkel to be executive creative director at D'Arcy/New York last June. In October, Publicis Groupe announced plans to shutter the D'Arcy network.
