With Jon Stewart hosting, inevitable gay cowboy jokes and its first ever hip-hop performance, this year's Oscar telecast is looking anything but typical. That could be good for Oscar advertising, which will compete for the sophisticated consciousness of film and fashion aficionados on Sunday night. We have a sneak peek at some of the spots bowing during the distribution of little gold men, including a movie trailer spoof from Sony via McKinney and director Scott Vincent of Hungry Man that introduces Sony's Bravia HD television to the U.S. (Europe got the introduction with Fallon/London's "Balls"). Miller Genuine Draft grows up with spots from The Martin Agency and MJZ's Fredrick Bond, and MasterCard recruits its own copywriters in twospots from McCann Erickson. Also expected to air are commercials from Dasani, Coke's new Tab Energy drink, Career Builder and a two-minute American Express spot directed by feature auteur M. Night Shyamalan. Check back here on Monday for the complete roundup.
