Rock Paper Scissors editors Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter have received their third Academy Award nomination for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, their latest collaboration with director David Fincher.
Wall and Baxter won the Oscar for Best Film Editing last year for The Social Network, and were nominated in 2009 for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Both were directed by Fincher, a long-time collaborator of the pair. Wall and Baxter were listed in Creativity's Top 50 industry players in 2011.
Their commercials work includes Nike's Fate, also directed by Fincher, while Wall recently turned his hand to directing with the title sequence for HBO's Game of Thrones.
Meanwhile The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo notched up nominations for sound designer Ren Klyce, whose recent work includes Nissan Leaf's Gas Powered Everything, as well as for Fincher, who is repped out of Anonymous Content. Anonymous Content's Gore Verbinski also received a nod for Best Animated Feature for Rango, while Emmanuel Lubezki (DOP On DirectTV's latest spots among others) is nominated for Best Cinematography forTree of Life.
Other notable creative industry nominees include William Joyce of Moonbot Studios for The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore nominated in the category of Best Short Film (Animated). Joyce's latest project is The Numberlys, previewed on Creativity last week.
