To introduce a new sub-compact car, the Toyota Yaris, Saatchi & Saatchi/Toronto and Spy Films' Sean Michael Turrell have launched a new campaign featuring Uncle Yaris, a long-haired character that is a lot like a Yaris vehicle. Each spot highlights a quality that the two have in common to a strong guitar soundtrack (Example: "Uncle Yaris plays great tunes."). The spots direct viewers to yaris.ca, where there is more information about the car and Uncle Yaris himself. At "Yaris Speaks," he offers updated thoughts, and in a section called "As Uncle Yaris Sees It," the character offers up factoids that help define his character. One reads, "The lifespan of a taste bud is 10 days. Uncle Yaris believes in longevity." (MS)
