Wieden Side of Life to Enlighten India

By Published on .

Wieden + Kennedy has opened its doors in India. Though word of a Delhi office first came last summer, the official announcement arrived today, with a slight change in plans.

Despite global coo Dave Luhr's assertion last July that the agency would develop the Delhi office from scratch and not involve the purchase of another shop, the agency has merged operations with Delhi-based creative agency "A," whose client list includes Royal Enfield Motorcycles, HCL Technologies, A1 Grand Prix Team India, Indian low-fare airline IndiGo and global tourism campaigns for the government of India, among others. The new office will be headed up by "A" partners V Sunil and Mohit Dhar Jayal as profit-sharing leaders of the Delhi operation, where current "A" clients and staff are expected to transition.

Prior to founding "A", Sunil was at Ogilvy & Mather Delhi and has worked at Contract and McCann Erickson in India. Jayal has worked in agencies in both India and abroad, most notably at Euro RSCG, India and Leo Burnett, London.

Delhi joins Portland, New York, London, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Beijing and Shanghai as Wieden host cities.
