Oreo Caps Off 100th Birthday Celebration With 5,000 Cookie Delivery to Antarctica

Published on . 0

One of the brands that delighted us most in 2012 was Oreo. The black and white sandwich cookie made us smile on a daily basis with "The Daily Twist" campaign, and now, to cap off its 100th birthday celebration, it brought some cookie love to where you'd least expect it--Antarctica.

The brand, its PR firm Weber Shandwick and one very happy-looking mascot, surprised scientists at Palmer Station in the Antarctic Peninsula with a special package of 5,000 Oreo cookies. Turns out, they were also celebrating another big milestone, the 100th anniversary of people setting foot on the South Pole.

Along with the cookie donation, the brand also donated Antarctica's first solar-powered Penguin Cam to the Palmer Station scientists.

Check out how the Kraft brand made the cream-stuffed sandwich a social-media darling on Creativity -Online.com, and follow @creativitymag on Twitter for more great work.
