While the Angry Birds have been hanging out with Freddie Mercury, their porcine foes are gearing up for their place in the spotlight, now that Rovio has announced that the pigs are getting their own game, Bad Piggies.
The gamemaker released this teaser video announcing its launch, set for September 27. In late August, Rovio had also posted an unusual press release on its blog. It was crudely written, apparently by hoof, and announced "Today Piggy island we haz Facebook and twitter Yu no like? We has new Gotta go moar later k thanks bye" and pointed to a Twitter handle and new Facebook page.
According to Rovio CEO Mikael Hed in a statement, the new game, like other pig-related ideas we've seen in the last year, shows that there's more than one angle to a situation. "There's a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we've been constantly asked: what about the pigs' side of the story? Bad Piggies gives you the chance to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes."
The Bad Piggies game will be available initially on iOS, Android and Mac, with Windows Phone, Windows 8 and PC versions to follow shortly after.
