With 'Voices,' Nike Spotlights Women in Sports

Creativity Pick of the Day

Published on .

Nike and Wieden & Kennedy Portland celebrate Title IX with a touching anthem spot, "Voices."

Directed by Anonymous Content's Mark Romanek, the spot features four U.S. female athletes: marathoner Joan Benoit Samuelson, boxer Marlen Esparaza, and basketball players Lisa Leslie and Diana Taursai. In tight, close-up shots, each talk about the obstacles they faced growing up. But what makes the work especially effective is the narratives are interspersed with shots of young girls, talking about the same difficulties.
