Volkswagen asked the Chinese to submit ideas for future car innovations via a virtual suggestion box on its website, and turned them into reality in a series of concept videos.
The brand -- which means "people's car" -- turned three of the 119,000 submissions into concepts. Among them was "Hover Car," where the company simulated an idea for a car that hovers above the street , powered by underground minerals. The parents of the girl who submitted the idea got to "test drive" the car in the video.
Two other concept cars, a "Music Car" and the "Smart Key" car, were unveiled at the Beijing auto show last month. The campaign was developed by Proximity Beijing/Goodstein & Partners.
