"He's a real pro." So says Joe Sciarrotta, executive creative director at O&M/Chicago, whose shop recently shot three spots for Orchard Supply & Hardware (a division of client Sears) with Kinka Usher, titular head of House of Usher. "He made the process so easy," Sciarrotta says of Usher's approach to the shoot. "You don't have to overthink anything." These days the Mystery Men director, who was hailed as the New Pytka back in his "Got Milk?" days, thanks to his stylistic versatility, has his head back in advertising. He's just shot new work for Mountain Dew, for which he did a funny nature film parody last year in which a dude butts heads with a ram over a can of Dew. "Kinka's not like a lot of directors who can do one thing very well," says BBDO/New York executive CD Bill Bruce. "He can do lots of things really well."
