As the French say, les hommes qui ont faim n'ont besoin d'aucune introduction. The shop keeps rolling (recently signing L.I.E. director Michael Cuesta) and keeps 'em rolling with a steady stream of comedy work. Bennett Miller has made a minor star of the side-burned freak from Bryan Buckley's instant-classic Dr Pepper campaign with ongoing laffers for TNN. Directors David Shane and Jim Jenkins were in the money at Cannes this year for work on ESPN SportsCenter and Turner Classic Movies, respectively, as was Buckley for Fuji Film and Citizens Against Terrorism. Buckley, (the cappo di tutti cappi according to the Creativity Top Directors issue) revisited Mother London for a nicely skewed campaign for Egg, which displays signs of a happy return to the nasty-streaked comedy we all love, also spotted recently in John O'Hagan's work for Halford's London, out of AMV.BBDO. Highlights of that campaign include a young man's first solo bicycle ride, ending, as it should, in pain and humiliation.
