Niche social networker CCI acquired by Radio One
Crain's New York Business reports on the $38 million deal to sell Community Connect Inc. to Radio One. CCI's assets include the 18-million-member BlackPlanet for African Americans, MiGente.com for Latinos, AsianAvenue.com for Asian-Americans, Glee.com for gays and lesbians and Faithbase.com for Christians. The deal, writes Amanda Fung, "represents Radio One's strategy to target the African American audience by expanding outside of radio into interactive."
