Reuters reports on Jerry Yang's first big public speech since taking over the CEO post at Yahoo earlier this year. Mr. Yang has been relatively quiet for the past three months, taking his time to evaluate the company and figure out what its next direction should be. At the speech, part of a Yahoo-sponsored event in Calif., he touted "openness" and a strategy shift away from aggregating and keeping users on its own site and said Yahoo's future was as a platform company.
Online Faceoff: Microsoft and Google Duke It Out Over Hot Site
The New York Post reports that a Facebook funding announcement is set to come down in the next 24 to 48 hours. There's been much speculation over who will fund Facebook's next round, much of it focusing on either Microsoft or Google. The Post said both are in the running and that there's likely to be another outside financial player brought into the round as well.
