ALTAVISTA NAMES NEW CEO, SLASHES 160 JOBS

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Search service AltaVista, which is majority-owned by troubled Internet operating company CMGI, said it has named James Barnett as CEO.

The position had previously been unfilled. Mr. Barnett joins the company from MyFamily.com, where he was president.

AltaVista also said it would also let go 160 people as part of a consolidation of administrative and finance functions.
