A crew will start shooting footage for the small-car importer in San Francisco for a promotional video for the Internet, dealerships and auto shows next year.
During the next two weeks, consumers visiting the car brand's Web site, www.miniusa.com, are invited to suggest where the car should go next.
The original Mini was sold in the U.S. from 1959 to 1967, and the first new model since then arrives here next March. Crispin Porter Bogosky, Miami, which won the account early this year, developed the concept and is handling.
Andrew Keller, associate creative director, said the film will aim to capture the "motoring" free spirit of the brand.
The crew won't drive on highways, has no maps and is looking for guidance from consumers.
Mini sent e-mails Thursday to hand-raisers on its Web site. By late Friday, Mini had already received 800 responses with location suggestions, Mr. Keller said.
