JUPITER CUTS 30% OF WORKFORCE

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Research and analysis firm Jupiter Media Metrix, New York, laid off 30% of its workforce, as expected.

The company had between 600 and 650 employees before the layoff.

The job cuts are expected to save $40 million.

Jupiter also announced a new management team that includes CEO Robert Becker and Kurt Abrahamson, previously group president of the company's U.S. business and now president of Jupiter Research. In addition, Will Hodgman, previously president of the company's AdRelevance division, has been appointed president of the measurement group, and Jean Robinson continues in the role of chief financial officer.

The company also announced it will begin a search for a senior executive who will oversee the company's sales and marketing activities.
