By now it's clear Rupert's big bet was a winner -- this social-network thing is more than a fad. And the genre is maturing, so we can see different personalities emerging from various players. While MySpace is snapping up tool providers and technology companies so that it has whatever its users might need in-house, Facebook is adopting a different tact by opening up its platform to developers around the world. Up-and-comer Bebo, meanwhile, is making some noise -- even though in the U.S. it's only about a 10th the size of Facebook right now. Here are a few of the social nets making the most noise -- and a few quieter ones to watch.
