The President's Latest New Media Move: A Spotify Playlist

By Published on .

On vacation, President Obama likes to kick it with some Motown, 2000s hip hop and 60s-era Dylan, according to the Spotify playlist he released today.

The president's approach to communicating policy seems to be to meet the people wherever they are -- whether that's Reddit's "Ask Me Anything," where he discussed issues like internet freedom and taxes or "WTF With Marc Maron" where he talked about the Charleston massacre and race relations. He appeared on Zach Galifianakis's "Between Two Ferns" to talk about the Affordable Care Act, and he plugged healthcare.gov in a Buzzfeed video. His sustained campaign to market his policies through new media succeed in getting press traction -- even if the issues sometimes take a backseat to the hype surrounding access to the president.
