NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Time Warner is in "advanced" talks with Microsoft Corp. to sell the software giant a stake in America Online, according to The New York Post.

The morning edition of the Manhattan daily cited two sources and said the companies' discussions are focused on Microsoft combining AOL with MSN.com, a move that would create an online portal colossus.

The Post's story said Time Warner and Microsoft would be equal partners in the deal.
