Mr. Pahade declined to discuss the specifics of his new role, but said an announcement could be expected from the company within a month.
"I'm an entrepreneur at heart," said Mr. Pahade, who joined Denuo in 2006 after co-founding WPP Group's Beyond Interactive. "This was an opportunity to go back and fulfill that again."
Rishad Tobaccowala, chief innovation officer of Publicis Groupe Media, said there are no plans to replace Mr. Pahade, who played a key role in Denuo's launch before shifting into a more corporate role within the network.
"I'm disappointed anytime someone talented leaves our group. But on the other hand, Nick has a fantastic opportunity and we are happy for his because he is great at starting things," Mr. Tobaccowala said.
Mr. Pahade is the second top digital holding company executive to announce his departure this week. Sean Finnegan, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Digital, is leaving to assume the role of chief media officer at Vibrant Media, a contextual, in-text advertising network.
"I'm absolutely proud of helping to make Denuo operational and make it the successes that it is," Mr. Pahade said. "We've made a tremendous amount of headway [since the unit opened]."
