GE is sending users on a digital scavenger hunt in its "#DigitalSnowGlobe" campaign, which links the Instagram accounts of GE's various businesses to let users choose their own winter adventure.
The campaign launches today and is aimed at consumers and tech enthusiasts. Users can begin the digital scavenger hunt on GE's main Instagram page.
From riding the "Power Express" (GE's play on the popular holiday movie "Polar Express") to skating on a GE-powered ice-skating rink in a holiday village, users can explore a holiday wonderland inside a virtual snow globe, and win prizes such as travel vouchers and gift cards from GE partners.
"The campaign brings to life all the industrial technologies GE helps to power," said Sydney Williams, social media marketing manager at GE.
"Instagram for us is such a powerful platform to show off the majesty of some of our technology," she said. "This is the first time we have pulled together all of our different businesses across industries and connected all of our Instagram accounts."
Some of the GE businesses featured in the campaign include locomotives, aviation, energy, healthcare and digital technology.
"You can explore wherever you want to go and choose your own adventure," Ms. Williams said.
Inside each Instagram image is a hidden snow globe, and if users find all of them, they can enter to win prizes such as trips on Amtrak, travel with United Airlines and tech gifts on ThinkGeek.com.
"The campaign is aimed at tech enthusiasts who appreciate industrial technologies," Ms. Williams said. "We have imagined and created a world where technology and data are really the heroes of this world."
