"Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane is making a splash on YouTube and Google. His web series "Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy" has been viewed 14 million times in three weeks, according to Media Rights Capital, which brokered the deal between MacFarlane, Burger King, which sponsored the first 10 episodes, and Google/YouTube, which distributed it.

The series has been distributed across Google's AdSense network, on YouTube, and on sethcomedy.com. The first installment, "Super Mario Rescues the Princess," accounts for 6.1 million views alone.

Does this mean it's a profitable web series? "This is not a loss-leader project," said Media Rights Capital digital president Dan Goodman, adding that viewer targets for Burger King had been exceeded by several million views.

The results are based on the first six episodes of the series. MacFarlane is producing 50 complete episodes for the series, plus random shorts as he sees fit. Additional sponsors will be added toward the end of the year.
